Fans of Sea of Stars, get ready to dive back in—because Throes of the Watchmaker, the free DLC expansion, is officially launching across all platforms on May 20, 2025. Announced earlier today alongside a fresh new trailer, this post-game adventure promises more than 8 hours of new content, and if the footage is anything to go by, it’s going to be a wild ride.
A Clockwork World Like No Other
Set in the whimsical, mysterious realm of Horloge, the DLC introduces a miniature clockwork world filled with strange characters, imaginative environments, and hand-crafted dungeons. Expect to encounter new enemies, puzzles, mini-games, and some delightfully odd NPCs along the way.

The developers at Sabotage have confirmed that Throes of the Watchmaker received the same cinematic budget as the main game—meaning that the storytelling and production values are as rich and detailed as ever.
New Mechanics, New Classes, New Sounds
In Horloge, the rules of magic shift—forcing the Solstice Warriors, Valere and Zale, to adopt new forms:
- Zale becomes a Juggler, using agile, acrobatic moves in a brand-new combat style.
- Valere transforms into an Acrobat, embracing balance and rhythm to unlock new attacks and combos.

These changes are more than cosmetic—they introduce entirely new gameplay dynamics, complete with fresh damage types, skills, and combo possibilities.
Backing it all is a brand-new soundtrack composed by Eric W. Brown, with special guest contributions from legendary composer Yasunori Mitsuda, whose work on the main game was already a standout element.
Meet Arty, the Laser-Shooting Artificer
Also joining the crew is Arty, a lovable engineer robot who brings laser-based attacks and a whole lot of charm. Arty will be a fully playable character, adding even more variety to the party dynamic.

Couch Co-Op Returns
First introduced in the Dawn of the Equinox update in late 2024, couch co-op returns here—allowing up to three players to team up locally. The co-op mode includes traversal and combat functionality, complete with a timed-hits system that encourages teamwork and precision.
