Channel37, the studio founded by ex-Trials developers, unveiled new gameplay for its upcoming survival-crafting adventure The Last Caretaker during the Future Games Show at Gamescom last week. Scheduled to launch in Early Access in 2025, the game introduces players to a vast ocean world filled with haunting beauty, lost technology, and the burden of humanity’s survival.

A Desolate World with a Singular Purpose
In The Last Caretaker, players step into the role of the last caretaker, a reawakened machine whose mission is to recover and nurture human seeds before sending them into space, where the remnants of humanity await. Across the endless ocean, survival means gathering resources, mastering modular crafting systems, and engaging in resource-driven combat to ensure success.
Beyond survival, the game explores deeper themes of existence, morality, and humanity’s legacy. As players sail the waters and uncover fragments of the past, they will slowly piece together the story of their awakening, the choices that shaped the world, and the haunting question of what it truly means to be human.

Gameplay Features
- Modular crafting system that allows for creative problem-solving and deep customization.
