New month, new games for us to dive into. Here is my list of Indie Game Releases of May 2023.
Week 1
Swarm Grinder is an action roguelite game with pixel art graphics. Battle enemies to make your way through a mass of spreading and evolving cells hosting dormant enemies. Collect a variety of game-changing skills and upgrades to create unique builds.
Week 2
Cook Serve Forever is a cooking adventure game where you play as Nori Kaga, a home-taught chef with nothing to her name but a food cart and a dream. Manage your menu, learn delicious recipes, and meet a diverse cast of friends and foes on your way to culinary greatness.
Darkest Dungeon II – 8 May (full release)
After a few months in early access via Epic Platform, Darkest Dungeon sees the full release on the horizon. Darkest Dungeon II is a roguelike road trip of the damned, be prepared to die… a lot.
Pan’orama is a relaxing and soothing puzzle simulation game in which you create amazing landscapes using different types of tiles, but most of all by discovering the connections between them and finding unique combinations.
Week 3
Mechabellum is an auto-battler taking place on the newly colonized planet of Far-Away. You’re the Commander of an army of mechs fighting it out in massive PvP battles. Customize and level up your units, strategically place them on the battlefield and watch them destroy your enemies.
The Halloween spirit is missing! Play as Scary and help him save HallowTown. “Death or Treat” is a 2D action-roguelite and hack & slash, with handpainted environments and traditional animation. Explore all the worlds and defeat hordes of enemies using different weapons and skills.
Week 4
Step into the shoes of the alchemically enhanced super soldier, Bellator, in this pulse-pounding tower defense and top-down action hybrid game. As the first of its kind, you are humanity’s last hope against invaders trapped within the castle. Strategically set traps, build defensive towers, equip powerful weapons and gear, and reclaim the castle piece by piece in an epic battle for survival.
Inkbound is a fluid turn-based roguelike that brings the best aspects of Shiny Shoe’s award-winning title, Monster Train, to an online world where the whimsical and dangerous magic of the written word comes to life.
Amnesia: The Bunker is a first-person horror game set in a desolate WW1 Bunker. Face the oppressing terrors stalking the dark corridors. Search for and use the tools and weapons at your disposal, while keeping the lights on at all costs. Overcome fear, persevere, and make your way out alive.
