This guide is designed for new players to help them kickstart their adventure in Forever Skies. It covers the basics of survival, exploration, and airship construction, focusing on essential mechanics like managing health, hunger, thirst, and stamina. You’ll also learn how to navigate the HUD, explore resource-rich radio towers, and use the scanner to unlock vital blueprints.
While it doesn’t delve into the more advanced aspects of the game, this guide equips you with the foundational knowledge needed to survive, gather resources, and build your airship as you begin your journey in the skies. Perfect for anyone just starting out!
HUD Overview
The game’s Heads-Up Display (HUD) is packed with critical information to aid your survival. Here’s a breakdown of the key elements:
Compass
- On Foot and Airship: Shows the direction you’re facing, whether walking or flying.
- Ship Helm: A second compass on your ship’s helm displays the airship’s orientation.
Health and Survival Bars
- Immunity Bar: Tracks the severity of viral effects if you’re infected or displays active boosters.
- Health: Your standard health bar—if it reaches zero, you’ll die.
- Thirst: Monitors hydration levels. Running out of water leads to death.
- Hunger: Tracks how hungry you are. Allowing this to deplete results in death.
- Energy: Indicates your energy reserves, affecting your ability to sprint or perform actions. Restore it by sleeping or consuming specific food items.
Hotbar
- Hotbar: Displays the tools and items you currently have equipped.
Ammo
- Ammo Indicator: Shown near the Hotbar, this displays the ammunition count for tools like the Repair Gun.
Food
In Forever Skies, food is a scarce resource, especially in the early game, making it a challenging aspect of survival. At the start, you’ll need to rely on an insect catcher to automatically gather food. To make it functional, you’ll also need to craft a decoy, which attracts insects to the catcher. Keep in mind that basic decoys can only be used up to four times before wearing out.
As you progress, you’ll unlock the ability to craft improved decoys with greater longevity, making food collection more efficient. Be cautious when consuming raw food, as it applies negative status effects and provides less energy compared to cooked or processed food. Prioritize crafting tools and upgrades to enhance your food supply chain as you advance in the game.
Resources
In the early stages of Forever Skies, gathering resources is crucial for rebuilding your spaceship and crafting essential survival items. You’ll find floating resources scattered around the towers, such as metal and synthetic materials. These materials are your first stepping stones toward crafting important items like the water bottle, a critical tool for maintaining your thirst and overall survival.
Make sure to collect as much as you can while exploring, as these resources will enable you to start crafting and repairing your airship, setting the foundation for your adventure. Efficient gathering and crafting are key to progressing through the game.
Exploration & Towers
Exploration is the heart of Forever Skies. Once your airship is operational, you’ll use a scanner to discover new blueprints for crafting items and progressing the story.

Airship Construction
The construction system in Forever Skies is intuitive and allows players to expand their airship with ease using the building glove. You can add walls, floors, and various structures, even creating multi-floor layouts to let your creativity take flight. However, always keep an eye on the weight system, each air balloon has a maximum capacity, and every addition to your airship adds weight. Balancing expansions is crucial to maintaining your airship’s performance.
Optimizing Your Airship Layout
As your airship grows larger to accommodate more machines or personal decorations, organizing its layout becomes essential. A great strategy is to place the cockpit at the front of the aircraft. This positioning makes it easier to land your airship, as you only need a small portion of it to touch a tower’s landing base to deploy the anchor.
In the rear section of the airship, set up automated farming machines, such as the metal picker or the food decoy. This way, while you’re off exploring towers, your airship can continue gathering much-needed resources, streamlining your progression and maximizing efficiency.
Enemies
As you explore the world of Forever Skies, you’ll encounter a variety of enemies that pose unique threats to your survival and your airship.
- Airship Attacker: For now there’s only one specific enemy targets your airship, behaving much like the shark in Raft. It will latch onto your vessel, and you’ll need to use the extractor tool to drive it away and prevent damage.
- Expedition Threats: While exploring, you may encounter hostile creatures capable of dealing lethal damage within just a few hits. Keep your distance and use ranged weapons to eliminate them safely. Be cautious, some of these enemies may also have ranged attacks, making them even more dangerous if you’re not prepared.
Surviving these encounters requires vigilance and proper preparation, so be sure to carry the right tools and weapons for both airship defense and personal protection.
